Star pianist Bruce Liu presents The Seasons by Tchaikovsky. The Seasons is the best known of Tchaikovsky’s solo piano works: a series of twelve vignettes – so a more accurate title might be The Months – comparable to such Schumann cycles as Kinderszenen or Waldszenen. It was a commission from the music journal Nuvellist, which printed one piece per month throughout 1876, and each is prefaced by a few lines from a pertinent Poem.
