Product Details
Featuring six works by Palestrina in celebration of his 500th anniversary this year, this album also featuring music by other Renaissance composers in Rome: Allegri, the Anerios, Animuccia, Giovannelli, Marenzio, Nanino & Soriano. The fourth album in the London Oratory Schola Cantorum’s ‘Sacred treasures’ series on Hyperion. Uniquely, the average age of the choir is just 14, including the ‘back-row’ singers. The choir gives boys aged 7 to 18 the opportunity of an outstanding choral education within the state-education system. ‘An interpretive awareness that puts many an adult choir in the shadow’ (BBC Music Magazine) ‘This is without doubt cathedral standard … Sensationally sung … just perfect’ (Church Times).
