Sydney, Wednesday 8 May 2024

Universal Music Australia (UMA), a division of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, today announced the launch of its latest strategic industry relationship with One Day Entertainment, reinforcing UMA’s commitment to discovering and developing local artistry and expanding its Australian roster.

Under the agreement, One Day Recordings, will work in close collaboration with EMI Music Australia, one of UMA’s leading domestic labels. The two companies will work together on artist development and to expand efforts to introduce local Australian talent to both a wider domestic and global audience.

Speaking of the joint venture, EMI Managing Director, Mark Holland said, “The EMI team is thrilled to formalise its partnership with One Day Entertainment. Over the past few years, I’ve seen their drive, tenacity, and hunger to succeed in the music business first-hand and am keen to help find and nurture the future generation of musicians alongside them.

“They’re already proving to be a strong A&R source in the domestic market, utilising their established position in artist and studio management, as well as touring and event promotion,” added Mark.

Launched in 2013 as an events brand, One Day Entertainment evolved five years ago into artist and producer management, spearheaded by co-founders Nick Lupi and Adit Gauchan.

Speaking of this new direction, co-founder Nick said, “We decided to draw on our own experience as artists to guide the careers of the next generation of talent. Amongst others, we currently manage ARIA-winning, Grammy-nominated producer 18YOMAN, as well as multi-platinum hip hop group ONEFOUR, among others.

“Our goals and approach have always been the same - to help artists build long-term, meaningful careers, and the EMI Australia team is world-class with a proven track record in breaking artists. So, we are thrilled about partnering with this talented group to bring a new generation of Australian artists to the forefront,” added co-founder Adit.

This mission reflects that of UMA, with Sean Warner, President, and CEO of UMA, adding, “We have always invested significantly in developing Australian artists and supporting the local music community, with over 90% of our local staff directly, or indirectly, supporting Australian music and Australian artists. The team at One Day, combined with our team at EMI Australia, will bring something unique and fresh to the domestic music ecosystem.

Over the past few years, Universal Music Australia has continued to grow its domestic artist roster, having helped develop the careers of thousands of artists, including Vera Blue, Alison Wonderland, Tkay Maidza, Hilltop Hoods, The Avalanches and Peach PRC, as well as supporting global superstars such as Troye Sivan, Dean Lewis, Tame Impala and Empire Of The Sun, among many others.

“We are always on the hunt for new and up-and-coming talent, and with the help of Nick and Adit, alongside our in-house A&R teams, we aim to expand our roster even further - I’m looking forward to what this next chapter of our partnership brings,” added Sean.
